Following restrictions across Australia – most State governments have put incentives in place to support visitor activity and increased spend. We have put together a comprehensive list of schemes available across the country, how much you can get, how to claim them and who can claim them.

Some programs are available to residents of a specific state, whilst others are available to residents of anyone in Australia.

Kicking off with Vouchers that are available across all of Australia; we have South Australia & ACT.

Australian Capital Territory:

A discount voucher trial has been launched in Canberra called ChooseCBR. It is available for those living and visiting Canberra, where you will receive daily discounts at participating hospo, retail and tourism businesses in the city.

Who can get them? 
Anyone that is over 18 years of age living in or visiting the ACT can get them. You do not need to be a resident – you just have to be in Canberra on the day your voucher is issued.

What is the value of the voucher? 
Each day you will get a pack of vouchers totalling $40 which are divided into separate vouchers of two $2.50, one $5, one $10 and one $20 discount. You will need to spend a minimum of x4 the value of the voucher to redeem.

What can I spend the vouchers on? 
There is a range of services you can spend the vouchers from accommodation, food and drinks, retail, personal care and activities. You can only redeem the voucher with registered/participating businesses. The full list is here.

How do I get them? 
Sign up here at choosecbr.act.gov.au. You will then see which vouchers are available to you, at which point you create a five-digit code which you show to the cashier at time of payment.

Are there time restrictions? 
Yes, the scheme runs until the 21st of December, or until program funds run out.

South Australia: 

South Australia has put together the Great State Voucher Scheme which can be used to for accommodation only.

Who can get them? 
You need to be over 18 years old and can be from anywhere in Australia. To register you will need to provide an email address and identification.

What is the value of the voucher? 
Up to $150 in total. You can secure a $100 voucher to visit at Adelaide city and North Adelaide and $50 to spend in suburban and regional South Australia.

What can I spend the vouchers on? 
Accommodation only – this scheme does not cover activities, food and beverage, etc.

How do I get them? 
Registrations will open on Tuesday 5th of Jan 2021 at 11am ACDT (put it in your calendar). There is a very short window to get the vouchers as registrations close 6th of Jan at 5pm. Go here for more info.

Are there time restrictions? 
Yes, you will be able to redeem your Great State Voucher at participating South Australian accommodation providers from 7th of Jan 2021 to 31st of March only.

Below are the states where you can claim vouchers, but you must be a resident of said state to qualify.

Victoria: 

The Regional Travel Voucher Scheme is being offered by Business Victoria. This is only open to Victorian residents and helps cover the cost of accommodation, sightseeing and tours in regional Vic, the Yarra Ranges and Mornington Peninsula.

Who can get them? 
You need to be over 18 years old and must be a Victorian resident. You can only claim one voucher per household and only one voucher across all three rounds.

What is the value of the voucher? 
The voucher is worth a flat $200 and you will need to show evidence of spending at least $400 across accommodation, attractions or tours in regional VIC.

What can I spend the vouchers on? 
You can spend it on tours, accommodation and attractions in regional Victoria, Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Ranges.

How do I get them? 
Applications are done online here and are available in 3 rounds until capacity or date is reached.

Are there time restrictions? 

There are 3 rounds with different travel date restrictions (so pay close attention).

Travel dates:

Round 1: 12 December 2020 to 22 January 2021

Round 2: 27 January 2021 to 1 April 2021

Round 3: 6 April 2021 to 31 May 2021

New South Wales: 

There are four vouchers you can claim from Dine and Discover NSW. You can spend two on cultural experiences, and the other two on hospitality.

Who can get them? 
The scheme will be open to NSW residents aged 18 and over.

What is the value of the voucher? 
You will get four vouchers valued at $25 which can only be used once.

What can I spend the vouchers on? 
You will be able to search the ServiceNSW or the ServiceNSW website to find participating businesses. It is mainly for cafes, restaurants, pubs & clubs, cinemas, attractions, outdoor activities and tours.  The vouchers will not be for retail, tobacco, alcohol, gambling or accommodation.

How do I get them? 
Applications are expected to open in early 2021. You can register your interest here.

Northern Territory:

The NT has created the Territory Tourism Voucher scheme. It is available to NT residents and can be used in accommodation, experiences and activities.

Who can get them? 
You need to be over 18 years old and must be a Northern Territory resident. Only 1 voucher per person and available on a first-come first-served basis.

What is the value of the voucher? 
The voucher is worth up to $200 in savings, or up to $400 if travelling 400kms or more*

What can I spend the vouchers on? 
You can use your voucher for tours, attractions, accommodation or car hire.

How do I get them? 
Round three vouchers will begin from the 1st of February 2021. Keep an eye on their site for more details. It is on a first-come, first-serve basis and is available even if you have claimed a voucher in previous rounds.

Are there time restrictions? 
Once issued a voucher, it must be used within 14 days. Travel must be booked within 14days and must be completed by 31st of Jan 2021 (this will change depending on which round you are on).
